The recently proposed federal budget has raised concerns about potential reductions in Medicaid funding, capturing the attention of all social services providers, including Little Friends.  Many organizations across our state and country recognize that these cuts could lead to a loss of resources for many of the children and adults we serve who are challenged with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and Autism.

In Illinois, 50% of the state’s Medicaid funding is derived from a federal matching program.  This proposed Medicaid cut puts the individuals we care for at a real risk of losing vital benefits.

We want to assure our community that Little Friends is committed to closely monitoring this situation and actively collaborating with other organizations in our industry to advocate in the best interests of those we serve.  Our agency is aligned with larger organizations, such as the Institute on Public Policy for People with Disabilities and ANCOR, to not only track these developments but also to lobby against harmful Medicaid cuts as we approach another budget vote before Congress later this year.
