Special Events

Little Friends hosts several fundraising events throughout the year. The success of each of these events relies heavily on the involvement of our dedicated volunteers.

Little Friends Benefit Auction

The Little Friends Benefit Auction is one of the agency's largest most successful fundraisers. Volunteers may choose from a wide variety of responsibilities including serving on the planning committee, gathering donations, helping with set-up or volunteering during the event.

Step Up for Autism Walk

Designed to raise awareness about autism, the Step Up for Autism walk was the first of its kind to be held in Naperville. There are
a variety of volunteer roles, including serving on the planning committee, serving as a team captain or volunteering on the
day of the walk.

Additional events include:

Little Friends Golf Classic - Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, course contests and the silent and live auctions.

Little Friends Parade of Lights -Volunteers are needed to serve as parade helpers, banner carriers, route marshals, and sell merchandise.

Giving Trees - Become involved by hosting a Giving Tree at your business, "adopting" a family by providing gifts or a special meal, or choosing a tag from a Giving Tree and fulfilling that gift request.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

In cases when a volunteer will be working directly with an individual served by Little Friends, an application, interview and background check must be completed. Volunteers must also take part in an extensive training program so that they can get better acquainted with our clients. Due to confidentiality, there are no volunteer opportunities available within our children's programs.

Serendipity Resale Shop

More than 40 volunteers serve on a regular basis at Serendipity, a resale shop operated for the benefit of Little Friends. Located in downtown Naperville, the shop is run entirely by volunteers. Volunteers sort and price merchandise, create displays and assis customers.

Spectrum Volunteer Instructional Aid Assistant

Volunteer with Spectrum's Training Manager to assist in the construction of learning materials and pre-vocational training kits to be used as instructional aids for the clients we serve. Ideas and materials are provided for the volunteer to create.

Spectrum Volunteer Outing Assistant

Assist Spectrum's Activity Coordinator on community volunteer outings. Volunteers are responsible for the safety and well-being of a small group of assigned clients while in the community. You will help to provide a learning environment, emphasizing the importance of volunteerism among participating clients.
